Don’t expect to see Matt Damon at the 2013 MTV Movie Awards this weekend, because he’s got a bigger event to attend. It’s been revealed that Damon and his wife Luciana Barroso will renew their wedding vows in the Caribbean eight years after tying the knot.
E! News revealed that the couple has rented out Saint Lucia’s Sugar Beach resort, which cost Damon and his wife a hefty $600,000. The event is slated to continue through midday on April 14, with SUVs shuttling guests from a local private airfield to the hotel.
Those expected to attend are, obviously, Damon’s BFF Ben Affleck and his wife Jennifer Garner. It’s also anticipated that Michael Douglas, Catherine Zeta-Jones and Stanley Tucci will be at the ceremony, though it’s not confirmed. There are also rumors that George Clooney, Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie will be in attendance, though Pitt’s commitment to the MTV Movie Awards might make it a short visit.
The entire wedding vow renewal party is said to be booked under the name “Mr. Nuff,” and E! reports that there’s extra security around the hotel.
“In a case like with Matt Damon, you will see that even our Marine Police gets involved to ensure that no unauthorized boats can approach the resort beach,” Saint Lucia Hotel and Tourism Association president Karolin Troubetzkoy tells E!. “I would imagine the resorts would have very strict rules in place. It will be a matter of great pride to the St. Lucian staff here to look after the Matt Damon renewal-of-vows party. Considering that pretty much everyone has a friend or relative working in the various resorts, it is amazing how very little gets out.”
