merida brave disney princess Merida from 'Brave' officially named 11th Disney Princess

It was announced Monday (April 29) that Merida, voiced by Kelly Macdonald, the lead character from Disney/Pixar’s “Brave,” is being crowned the eleventh official Disney Princess. She also holds the distinction of being the first character crowned from a Disney/Pixar production and the second from a CGI-animated film.
Merida will be crowned before the media at a May 11 ceremony at Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom. Guests inside the park are welcome to watch the coronation, which takes place at Cinderella Castle, Inside The Magic reports. Merida is getting a bit of a makeover for the event, making her resemble less of a 3D character. The redesign falls in line with the other princesses, who are featured on a variety of Disney merchandise.
She joins existing princesses Snow White (“Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs”), Mulan (“Mulan”), Aurora (“Sleeping Beauty”), Belle (“Beauty and the Beast”), Tiana (“The Frog Princess”), Cinderella (“Cinderella”), Ariel (“The Little Mermaid”), Jasmine (“Aladdin”), Pocahontas (“Pocahontas”) and Rapunzel (“Tangled”).
Rapunzel is the latest character added to the list. You can watch her 2011 coronation ceremony, which took place in London, below.
