michael vick oprah Micheal Vick gets Nike endorsement deal backMichael Vick, the NFL quarterback (now on the roster of the Philadelphia Eagles) who once served 20 months in Federal prison for bankrolling an illegal dog-fighting operation, is back in Nike’s good graces. On Friday (July 1), the company announced it had re-signed Vick as a Nike athlete.

Before his 2007 conviction, the former Atlanta Falcon had a $2 million endorsement deal with the brand. Vick lost the endorsement and his job after news broke that a dog-fighting operation was run on property he owned in Virginia and had participated in the “victimization and killing of pit bulls.”

“Michael acknowledges his past mistakes,” Nike spokesman Megan Saalfeld tells CNN. “We do not condone those actions, but we support the positive changes he has made to better himself off the field.”
