Amanda Peet is in talks to play the lead role in “Bent,” where she’d play a Type A single mom. Minnie Driver, meanwhile, is close to joining “Free Agents,” a romantic comedy about two co-workers, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

“Bent” comes from Tad Quill, a writer and producer on “Scrubs” and “Spin City.” It will center on Peet’s character, a recently divorced mom who finds herself falling for the laid-back contractor who’s remodeling her kitchen. It would be her second series with NBC; she starred on “Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip” a few seasons ago. Her other recent credits include “Gulliver’s Travels,” “Please Give” and a guest spot on “How I Met Your Mother.”

“Free Agents” (a remake of a British show) is about co-workers at a talent agency who are both getting over heartbreak — one a divorce and the other a broken engagement. The guy becomes convinced they’re perfect for each other; the woman isn’t so sure. John Enbom (“Party Down,” “Veronica Mars”) is writing and executive producing the adaptation.

Driver starred on “The Riches” for FX in 2007-08. She had a recurring part on “Will & Grace” a few seasons prior to that and recently starred in “Conviction” and “Barney’s Version.”
