Minnie Driver is locked in for a pilot this season — but not the one she was reportedly close to signing on for a couple weeks ago.
Driver will star in a CBS drama called “Hail Mary,” EW reports. She’ll play a single mother who becomes a private investigator alongside a “streetwise hustler.” Jeff Wadlow (“Cry_Wolf”) created the show and is executive producing with Ilene Chaiken (“The L Word”) and (“Veronica Mars,” “Sherlock Holmes”).
Driver was courted for multiple pilots this development season, and earlier this month there were reports that she was on the verge of joining an NBC comedy called “Free Agents.” That deal didn’t come together, however, and she wound up with “Hail Mary,” which will film in Atlanta.
If the show gets picked up for the 2011-12 season, it will be Driver’s first full-time series work since “The Riches” ended in 2008. Her recent movies include “Conviction” and “Barney’s Version,” and she guested on an episode of “Modern Family” last season.
