Congrats, “Karmy” fans — MTV has renewed hit freshman series “Faking It.”
On Monday (June 9), just one day before the Season 1 finale airs, the network announced that “Faking It” would return for Season 2. The sophomore season of the scripted comedy series will have 10 episodes.
“Faking It” tells the story of two best girl friends Karma (Katie Stevens) and Amy (Rita Volk) in high school who, after getting accidentally outed at lesbians, decide to keep up the charade of dating in order to be popular. However, when Amy starts developing actual feelings for Karma, while Karma has no clue and develops her own crush on bad-boy-with-a-heart-of-gold Liam (Gregg Sulkin), things take a turn for the complicated. “Faking It” also stars Michael Willett as Liam’s best friend and Amy’s confidant Shane and Bailey Buntain as Amy’s new stepsister and mean girl with a secret Lauren.
“We’re thrilled to be renewing ‘Faking It!’ ‘Faking It’ has proved to be the perfect companion show to ‘Awkward,’ retaining nearly 90 percent of its lead in each week,” Susanne Daniels, President of MTV Programming, says. “We’re excited about [executive producer] Carter Covington’s delicious plans for Season 2.”
It’s a good thing that MTV renewed “Faking It” for Season 2, as the Season 1 finale — airing Tuesday (June 10) at 10:30 p.m. ET/PT — ends on quite the cliffhanger, and fans would have surely revolted if they didn’t get closure to everything to goes down in the action-packed episode.
