Oscar-winner, Natalie Portman, and her baby-daddy/fianc, Benjamin Millepied, joined other celebrities, business leaders and public figures on Monday (June 6) in signing on to the “I Do” campaign urging President Barack Obama to declare his support of gay and lesbian couples’ right to marry.
“Natalie Portman and her fianc, Benjamin Millepied, are in love, and believe all loving couples should be able to share in the freedom to marry without discrimination,” says Freedom to Marry President Evan Wolfson, “That’s why today they are joining the more than 100,000 people on Freedom to Marry’s Say, ‘I Do’ Open Letter calling on President Obama to do the right thing and become part of America’s majority for marriage.”
The campaign began in March with a letter urging Obama to make his support of gay marriage clear. Portman and Millepied join dozens of celebrities and public figures who have already signed on to the campaign, including Caroline Kennedy, Jane Lynch, Martin Sheen, LeAnn Rimes, Ellen DeGeneres, and wife, Portia DeRossi, NFL players Brendon Ayanbadejo and Scott Fujita, and business leaders Facebook co-founder Chris Hughes, and Dreamworks SKG co-founder David Geffen.
