If you’ll recall, Wayans Jr. starred in the original “New Girl” pilot alongside series regulars Jake Johnson, Zooey Deschanel and Max Greenfield but had to be recast when his ABC comedy “Happy Endings” got picked up for a second season. Lamorne Morris was brought in his place, albeit as a different character.

After “Happy Endings” was canceled, Wayans Jr. was booked for a six-episode arc for “New Girl’s” third season and then quickly locked in as a special guest star for the remainder of the season.

“New Girl’s” Season 3 finale, “Cruise,” airs Tuesday, May 6 at 9 p.m. ET/PT on FOX.
