piper comes back oitnb season 2 'Orange Is The New Black' Season 2 review: Back and juicy as everAre you ready to go back to Litchfield? The “Orange Is The New Black” Season 2 release can’t come quickly enough, and the first half a dozen episodes go deeper than ever before.

The Season 2 premiere of Netflix’s women’s prison dramedy, created by Jenji Kohan, picks up nearly a month after the Season 1 finale, where Piper (Taylor Schilling) is dealing with the traumatic repercussions from her fight with Pennsatucky (Taryn Manning). Fans yearning to see what is up with the rest of the ladies, though, have to wait until the second episode. This seems a fitting start, since we began Season 1 alone with Piper and she should always be our No. 1.

The remainder of the second installment truly hits a stride with the ensemble, getting into more back stories and showing us what really makes these ladies who they are. Some of the highlights: seeing Crazy Eyes (Uzo Aduba) as an adorable child; getting to see the moment Lorna (Yael Stone) laid eyes on the love of her life, Christopher; and seeing Bennett (Matt McGorry) dote on the increasingly more pregnant Daya (Dascha Polanco).

A variety of new faces brighten up Season 2. Lori Petty guest stars in Episode 1 and later Litchfield welcomes two new inmates, free-spirit Brooke Soso (Kimiko Glenn) and the villainous Vee (Lorraine Toussaint), who knows a few the girls from their past transgressions. In addition, two recognizable faces we know from in front of the screen directed episodes this season, actors Jodie Foster and Andrew McCarthy.

All in all the things we love about “OITNB” are still there — the dark humor, the camaraderie, the misery and the mystery. If we could make a request for the remaining six episodes, it would be more men. The first six didn’t have nearly enough Bennett, Mendez (Pablo Schreiber) and Larry (Jason Biggs). Here’s hoping the rest of Season 2 is filled with just as many juicy treats as the first.

“Orange Is The New Black” Season 2 hits Netflix June 6.
