Well, it almost makes up for how short the 50th-anniversary tribute was. Almost.
A tie in the Oscars is rare enough. A victory for a James Bond movie is even more rare, but it happened Sunday (Feb. 24) as the Daniel Craig-starring “Skyfall” shared the honors for best sound editing with “Zero Dark Thirty” in the 85th Academy Awards.
And it was just nice to hear the orchestra strike up the title song from “Skyfall,” though Adele also is singing it live for the first time.
Agent 007 actually was a winner in the sound categories once before, for sound effects for  “Goldfinger” in 1965. A year later, “Thunderball” won for best visual effects — remember Sean Connery in the flying jet pack? — and despite other nominations since, that was it. Until now.
As Bond marks his 50th movie anniversary, then, it’s weirdly appropriate that it’s taken him almost that long to claim an Oscar again.
