A Los Angeles judge has ordered an investigation into the well-being of 15-year-old Paris Jackson after she was hospitalized following an apparent suicide attempt. Superior Court Judge Mitchell Beckloff oversees the guardianship of the late Michael Jackson‘s children. Fox News reports Beckloff gave orders for an inquest into Paris’ health, welfare and education. The judge asked for a recommendation regarding any changes in living situation that may be necessary for for Paris’ health and safety.
Perry Sanders Jr., an attorney for Michael’s mother, Katherine Jackson, confirms, “There have been communications between the court and counsel and we’re completely supportive of the court’s actions.” Sanders says Paris is doing fine physically, and is undergoing medical treatment after being taken from her home in an ambulance Wednesday (June 5) and placed under a 5150 psychiatric hold.
This is not the first time Beckloff has taken action amidst Jackson family drama. In July 2012, Beckloff ordered an investigation into the welfare of Paris and her brothers, Prince Michael and Blanket Jackson, after Katherine was reported missing. It seems some family members had surreptitiously whisked her away to Arizona, and in the meantime Paris had a near meltdown on Twitter looking for the truth about her grandmother’s whereabouts.
There was also a report of a domestic disturbance at the Jackson family home. At the time, Michael’s nephew TJ Jackson was given temporary guardianship of Paris and her brothers. Currently, Katherine and TJ share the duties.
Paris has been subpoenaed by the defense in Michael’s wrongful death lawsuit, which was lodged by Katherine against concert promoter AEG, and in which Paris is named co-plaintiff. But her recent hospitalization could lead to the teen being excused from testifying, in light of the potential impact on her mental health.
