piers morgan petition for deportation white house responds gi Piers Morgan petition for deportation: White House responds

The White House is answering more than 100,000 people, who signed an online petition demanding CNN host Piers Morgan be deported.
Morgan published an op-ed demanding stricter gun laws, following the Newtown Massacre at Sandy Hook Elementary School. Furious citizens responded by taking to the White House’s “We the People” website to demand Piers be sent back to the UK.
“Piers Morgan is engaged in a hostile attack against the U.S. Constitution by targeting the Second Amendment,” reads the petition. “We demand that Mr. Morgan be deported immediately for his effort to undermine the Bill of Rights and for exploiting his position as a national network television host to stage attacks against the rights of American citizens.”

The White House — which is required to respond to We the People petitions that garner 25,000 signatures within 30 days — has now issued a formal response, asking for U.S. citizens to remember the First Amendment.
A statement by White House Press Secretary Jay Carney reads:

“Let’s not let arguments over the Constitution’s Second Amendment violate the spirit of its First. President Obama believes that the Second Amendment guarantees an individual right to bear arms. However, the Constitution not only guarantees an individual right to bear arms, but also enshrines the freedom of speech and the freedom of the press — fundamental principles that are essential to our democracy.”
Carney also posted this YouTube video, in which Obama opines about gun rights:
