While a heavy-hearted nation mourns lost children and lost innocence, one can’t help but smile at a photo like this. The official Barack Obama Twitter shared this photo on Wednesday, Dec. 9.
“Photo of the day: President Obama gets caught in Spider-Man’s web,” wrote the social media correspondent. Taken by White House photographer Pete Souza, the photo depicts the POTUS feigning surprise as the costumed son of a White House staffer shoots an invisible web at him as he exits the Oval Office.
On Wednesday, Obama was named Time Magazine’s Person of the Year. He also held a press conference and announced his decision to appoint Vice President Joe Biden to lead an effort against gun violence. He expects proposals on how to prevent further senseless acts of violence no later than January.
“If there’s even one thing that we can do to prevent any of these events, we have a deep obligation–all of us–to try,” Obama said.
