pretty little liars love shack baby season 4 'Pretty Little Liars' Season 4 finale 'changes the whole course of the show,' says EP Marlene King“Pretty Little Liars” is back for the latter half of Season 4 and with it comes the usual dire situations for the four main characters. But this time, Alison is also in the mix — for real this time, not possible-ghost Alison or dream-hallucination Alison.

Executive producer Marlene King tells the Huffington Post that solving the puzzle of Alison’s disappearance will feature heavily in Season 4b, all culminating in an explosive finale, which is what has made her think the show could continue past five seasons.

“Before the season’s over,” says King, “fans will find out what happened to Alison the night she went missing and why she left Rosewood. I think the finale really changes the whole course of the show. It’s such a surprise and such a fascinating turn of events.”

“I always thought [‘Pretty Little Liars’] was five seasons, but when we shot this last finale and saw the magic that it brought to this group of actors, I started to think there’s more story to tell here,” King continues. “There’s definitely more story to tell than five seasons. We almost reinvent the show with the next finale.”

King also says they’ve had Ezra in mind for “A” since “very early on” and that “we haven’t seen the last of CeCe Drake.”

The EP teases that Mona’s loyalty is very much in question.

“Mona is a very complex character,” says King. “I think Mona has a deep, true love for her friend Hanna. I think Mona has had resentment and a deep-seated anger towards Alison and more of that will be explored in this next slew of episodes.”

“Pretty Little Liars” airs Tuesday nights at 8 p.m. ET/PT on ABC Family.
