The verdict is in. “The Real Housewives of New Jersey” Teresa Giudice is going to jail for 15 months for wire and bankruptcy fraud NorthJersey.com reports. This will be followed by two years of supervised probation and payment of over $414 in restitution.
The ruling comes after Teresa’s husband, Joe, was given his own sentence of more than three years in federal prison.
Despite asking for house arrest, Teresa will begin serving her time Jan. 5 and then once completed, Joe will begin his jail term. This ensures one parent will be at home with the couple’s four daughters.
Teresa Giudice reportedly read a letter to the court before her sentencing saying in part, “I fully take responsibility for my actions. I deeply love my family….My four daughters are my life…I’m scared. I’m not going to deny it. I’m really scared.”
After Teresa and Joe exited the courthouse hand in hand, U.S. Attorney for New Jersey Paul Fishman said the sentencing was “fair, appropriate and responsible and [the] office is satisfied. It sends a message to everyone watching and hopefully people will think twice.”
