rick perry getty Rick Perry still not convinced Obama was born in U.S.It seemed that the controversy of President Obama’s country of birth was resolved months ago. But not for presidential candidate Rick Perry.

In an interview with Parade magazine on Sunday (Oct. 27), the Texas governor says, “I don’t have any idea,” when asked if he thought Obama’s birth certificate was real. He adds that Donald Trump, who once considered a run for the White House, still does not believe Obama is from the U.S.

The Commander in Chief had quieted the “Birthers” by releasing his long-form birth certificate on April 27, 2011.

Here’s the relevant portion of the interview:

Governor, do you believe that President Barack Obama was born in the United States?
I have no reason to think otherwise.

That’s not a definitive, “Yes, I believe he”–
Well, I don’t have a definitive answer, because he’s never seen my birth certificate.

But you’ve seen his.
I don’t know. Have I?

You don’t believe what’s been released?
I don’t know. I had dinner with Donald Trump the other night.

That came up.

And he said?
He doesn’t think it’s real.

And you said?
I don’t have any idea. It doesn’t matter. He’s the President of the United States. He’s elected. It’s a distractive issue.
