ryan hurst birthday gi Happy birthday, Ryan Hurst: Before 'Sons of Anarchy' there was 'Remember the Titans'

It’s the birthday of former “Sons of Anarchy” star Ryan Hurst and it seems appropriate to look back on his career. Naturally, “Sons” fan will always identify him as the bearded Opie Winston.
He wasn’t always a rugged biker in need of a serious haircut, though. Hurst has had a long career, appearing on shows like “Beverly Hills, 90210” and “Save By the Bell: The New Class,” but its his film career that is definitely worth pointing out.
With roles in “Saving Private Ryan” and “Patch Adams,” he’s never had a problem finding work, it seems. However, it’s his part in 2000’s “Remember the Titans” that stands out as the most memorable.
If you haven’t seen Hurst’s portrayal of Gerry Bertier in the film, or simply don’t remember it, take a little refresher course with the video clips below.

Chris E. Hayner is equal parts nerd, crazy person and coffee. He watches too much TV, knows more about pro wrestling than you do and remembers every single show from the TGIF lineup. You may have seen him as a pro-shark protester in "Sharknado 3." His eventual memoir will be called "You're Wrong, Here's Why..." TV words to live by: "I'm a firm believer that sometimes it's right to do the wrong thing."
