On Saturday (Oct. 5), Miley Cyrus did double-duty on “Saturday Night Live,” appearing as both the host and the musical guest. The result was actually pretty amusing, with Cyrus’ acting and singing skills on full display throughout the night.

But what was the best part?

There is a strong case to be made for the music video that ran early in the show, “We Did Stop – The Government.” A parody of Miley’s own “We Can’t Stop” video, this bit featured Cyrus and “SNL” regular Taran Killam in the roles of Michele Bachmann and John Boehner, respectively. Lots of sexiness, tongue action and some dancing elephants (in place of Miley’s usual dancing teddy bears) made the joke video a true thing of beauty.

Having President Obama peeking in through the windows at the government-shutdown party was an especially genius move on somebody’s part.

If you like things more on the serious side, Cyrus’ two musical performances might be your picks. She started out with “Wrecking Ball,” a song that is definitely more pleasant when nakedness does not distract the listener. An acoustic version of “We Can’t Stop” — which makes a surprisingly pretty ballad — followed later in the show.

Plenty more sketches are candidates for the best of the night. Which did you like best? Vote in the poll below!
