“The Wendy Williams Show” welcomed “Scandal” star Bellamy Young on Thursday (Nov. 14), where the “first lady” of the hottest drama on TV talked about her wonderfully delicious character of Mellie Grant.

“I love it so much, I love that show so much. I love our show and I love the cast, I love our writers and our crew. … This moment is rare and it’s a blast and it’s fleeting, so we know enough to be grateful and we try to drink in every moment,” says Young. “I had two lines in the pilot. … But bless them, they found Mellie to be a fulcrum in the story and they started writing it and it’s been unbelievable.”

When asked what her favorite “scandalous” storyline has been, Young says, “There’s been a lot … but I think for me, following through on the threat to give the interview on his affair. You don’t do that! That’s something you hold over somebody’s head for 20 years or at least seven seasons, but no, Mellie is a ride or die kind of girl.”

A few other tidbits include what Young was doing before she burst onto the scene in “Scandal”:

“Shopping around, girl,” she laughs. “I was here for 10 years, I did Broadway, a musical, I’m a singer. And then I was in L.A. doing — I was very blessed to do a hundred-thousand guest-stars and a lot of recurring but not to get noticed. This is incredible.”

On Mellie’s amazing “first lady” hair:

“I wear a glorious wig on the show. It’s a wig and then we got two full heads of extension hair and sewed it in, it’s like a lion’s mane.”

On being single:

“You got somebody for me, Wendy?”

“Scandal” airs Thursday nights at 10 p.m. ET/PT on ABC.
