For the 21st Century Songs theme, “American Idol” finalist Scotty McCreery chose “Swingin,'” the 1983 hit for John Anderson. He got to do it because LeAnn Rimes covered it for her 2010 album “Lady and Gentlemen.” How did he do?

We thought he did well – the vocal was solid. But the performance was pretty boring. Do we think Scotty is in trouble yet? Absolutely not. But he can’t keep phoning it in like that until the finals. He’ll get tripped up.

The judges were complimentary, but J.Lo and Randy both said they want more from him. Randy said it was way too safe to be doing at this stage in competition. Did you pick up the phone for Scotty?
