scotty mccreery gone idol Scotty McCreery's 5 best 'American Idol' performances

Scotty McCreery has come a long way since his “nuts of wonder” travesty on “American Idol.”

Season 10’s winner may be one of the show’s most consistent contestants ever, delivering a solid performance every single week of the competition.

In honor of his well-deserved victory, we looked back at all of his Top 13 performances and picked his five best. It wasn’t an easy job, but someone had to do it.

(Honorable Mention: “Can I Trust You with My Heart” just missed making the list. We do love the performance though, so you really should check it out.)

5. Finale — “Live Like You Were Dying” with Tim McGraw

OK, so technically this wasn’t part of the competition, but if it was, it would definitely be No. 1 on the list of Scotty’s best performances. This is the kind of single Scotty should be releasing. The 17-year-old held his own (and dare we say out-sang?) with country legend Tim McGraw and looked like a seasoned pro. If anyone had doubts, this performance should’ve erased them all completely. We won’t lie, we raised our hand in the air during Scotty’s glory note.

Also, note to Tim and Scotty: Please go on tour together. We beg you.

4. Top 13 — “The River”

Talk about starting off strong. Scotty chose “The River” for his first performance for the Top 13 and we have to say, the kid absolutely nailed it. Perfect song choice, great vocals and amazing way to kick off his journey to the finale.

3. Top 3 — “Are You Gonna Kiss Me or Not?”

We could just hear teenage girls (and probably some adults) screaming, “Yes, I’m gonna kiss you!” during Scotty’s performance of “Are You Gonna Kiss Me Or Not?” Scotty exuded confidence and charisma during the song, which we really wish would have been saved for the finale (taking “Check Yes or No’s” place). Also, that smile at the end of the performance may just be the cutest thing ever.

2. Top 6 — “You’ve Got A Friend”

Scotty gave us chills for the first time with his rendition of Carol King’s “You’ve Got A Friend.” Chills we tell you! Seriously, it was perfect. There’s nothing else to say. Just listen and enjoy.

1. Top 5 — “Gone”

This was the first performance of Scotty that really made us root for Scotty to win the whole damn thing as it proved he really has versatility. And some swagger! His vocals were stellar, he kept up with the quick pace of the song and he just looked like he was having the time of his life. Hey “Idol,” next time you’re picking a single for Scotty, you may want to look back on this performance, one of our favorites from Season 10. Note: If you haven’t done so already,we highly recommend you download the studio version of “Gone” on iTunes and then listen to it the next time you’re driving. Hitting your steering wheel to the beat of “bang bang!” is a lot of fun.

Agree with our list or did we leave your favorite Scotty McCreery performance off our list? Sound off in the comments.
