Sean Hayes is making his triumphant return to NBC in the new sitcom “Sean Saves the World.” The series follows him playing a divorced gay dad who is trying to care for his teenage daughter while also juggling a job with a strict new boss.
A trailer for the new comedy was presented during NBC’s Upfronts in New York. Sami Isler plays Sean’s daughter Ellie, while Linda Lavin plays his mother Lorna who decides to move in with them. The series also stars Echo Kellum and “Reno 911!’s” Thomas Lennon as Sean’s boss.
“Sean Saves the World” is one of NBC’s new additions to its Thursday comedy block. It joins veterans “Parks and Recreation” and “Parenthood” as well as newcomers “Welcome to the Family” and “The Michael J. Fox Show.” Hayes’ new series is clearly trying to appeal to “Will & Grace” fans, and it seems like it just might do the trick. “Sean Saves The World” premieres in fall 2013 at 9 p.m. ET.
