seth meyers 66th primetime emmy awards gi Seth Meyers named host for the 2014 Primetime Emmy Awards

Seth Meyers has been named the host for the 66th Primetime Emmy Awards, scheduled for Monday, Aug. 25 on NBC.

“Seth’s expertise and ease in front of a live audience during his time at ‘SNL,’ as well as his comedic brilliance both as a writer and in front of the camera on ‘SNL’ and ‘Late Night,’ makes him the perfect choice to host the Emmys,” Paul Telegdy, NBC president of late night and alternative programming said in a statement released Thursday (April 24).

“Seth is such a talented performer and writer, and we know he will bring something unique to hosting the Primetime Emmy Awards,” added Bruce Rosenblum, chairman and CEO of the Television Academy.

Meyers is currently the host of “Late Night with Seth Meyers” and formerly was a member of the “Saturday Night Live” cast, starting in 2001. On “SNL,” Meyer also worked as the head writer and was the long-time co-anchor of “Weekend Update.”

The awards will take place at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles, airing at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT on Aug. 25. Don Mischer is set to executive produce the ceremony, with Charlie Haykel and Julianne Hare also producing.
