Benedict Cumberbatch, of British drama “Sherlock” and the upcoming movie “The Fifth Estate,” stops by “Katie” on Wednesday (Oct. 16), where he talks about what Katie Couric calls the best name in show business.

Originally Cumberbatch went by “Benedict Carlton,” which is his middle name, but then he changed agents and his new one wondered why on earth he wouldn’t go by his real name, “Benedict Cumberbatch,” and he said, “Because it sounds like a fart in a bath.”

Which is funny, certainly, but host Couric kind of loses it over that.

Below, Cumberbatch says that Julian Assange, who he plays in “The Fifth Estate,” is neither a noble hero nor a dastardly villain.

“I think either is to color him in too plain terms,” says Cumberbatch. “I think history will have a hand in deciding that later down the line maybe. … This is a new era of politics that we’re discovering. I don’t know that someone who exposes that can be tarred either as a goodie or a baddie.”

“Katie” airs daily in syndication, check your local listings for time and channel.
