halo showtime steven spielberg tv show Showtime still wants 'Halo' despite Xbox Entertainment Studios closure

Microsoft made a surprising move when it announced on July 17 that it closed its Xbox Entertainment Studios only several months after announcing a large original content slate.. Showtime president David Nevins offered some context for the closure, and an update on the network’s talks about partnering with Microsoft to make its live action Steven Spielberg “Halo” project.
“My understanding is that they decided not to build a new streaming service, and they decided not to make the investment in that,” Nevins tells reporters at the 2014 TV summer press tour.
As for the status of “Halo” on Showtime, Nevins says, “Those conversations are ongoing with those guys. It’s their premium property, and there’s enormous will in the company to find a way to bring it to a new medium in an exciting way. If we can put all the pieces together, it’s still possible.”
Nevins is also unclear where “Halo” would live; whether it would share a home on Showtime and Xbox Live, or live on one or the other. “It would not be just an acquisition,” he says. “It would run like our other shows.”
