“I think it definitely puts a lot more pressure on Mike Judge and Alec Berg and the people who have to come up with the stories and the words and stuff,” Middleditch tells Zap2it at the HBO Emmys party on Aug. 25.
Earning an Emmy nomination for a freshman season is no small feat, and the critical praise lavished on “Silicon Valley” for Season 1 make expectations pretty high during Season 2. Just don’t expect stars Thomas Middleditch and Zach Woods to be concerned about the critical response.
Woods adds, “We’re just the simple marionettes that they manipulate.”
Though Middleditch admits he reads reviews, Woods takes a strong stance against them. “I can’t read reviews because it does put me in my head,” he says. “I don’t feel pressure because people have told me that it was critically well received, but I avoided reading any of it to avoid what you’re describing.”
As for Season 2, the “Silicon Valley” team starts filming again at the end of October. “There’s going to be a real Halloween-y vibe to the start of this season,” Woods quips.
