cat deeley so you think you can dance fox 325 'So You Think You Can Dance' host Cat Deeley on this season so far

Cat Deeley admits that when the 10th season of “So You Think You Can Dance” started she was a bit worried.
“Actually what’s happened is we always go into each season with a little bit of trepidation,” she tells Zap2it. “We don’t know if we will find talent. It is the 10th season. Have we exhausted it?”
Drinking a glass of champagne at a Rockefeller Center restaurant, Deeley says the worries about the FOX competition show were unfounded. There have been plenty of great dancers lining up to get their chance on the show.
A lot of little kids have auditioned, but they can return when they are 18. And some of the new hopefuls have been watching since they were kids, making Deeley, 36, feel ancient.
“There were loads of newbies, 18-year-olds, just waiting to get on the show,” she says. “It is still seen as a stepping stone in a dancer’s career.”
Deeley asks the dancers: “Why did you want to be on the show? And they say, ‘I have been watching it since I was 9.’ I tell them not to darken my doorway again.”
It’s not as if there is a new aspect to the dance competition which has dancers from all different genre have to learn new routines every few days.
“It is the same show you know and love,” she says.
There was a change last season that she liked, and that was going from two shows each week to one.
“I love not having a results show,” Deeley says — contradicting something her boss, executive producer Nigel Lythgoe, said before this season started.
Like most live shows, especially competition shows, there is a script and a read-through, and Deeley says she does prep.
“The key to everything is prep, prep, prep,” Deeley says. “Then be in the moment and let it go.”
