sons of anarchy to be pt1 'Sons of Anarchy' Season 6 now guaranteed as creator Kurt Sutter signs new deal“Sons of Anarchy” will ride into a sixth season, and possibly beyond.

FX had previously given the green light to a fifth season of the drama, the highest-rated on the cable channel. The additional season comes in the wake of a new deal “SOA” creator Kurt Sutter has signed with 20th Century Fox TV and FX Productions, which produce the show. The Hollywood Reporter broke the news of the Season 6 pickup.

If the series follows the arc of previous FX shows like “The Shield,” “Nip/Tuck” and “Rescue Me,” a seventh season is likely as well (and would be covered under Sutter’s deal). He doesn’t necessarily want to set a finite end date, though.

“There’s a part of me that does see being able to tell this story in seven seasons, but there’s a part of me that doesn’t want to say, ‘That’s it,'” Sutter tells The Hollywood Reporter. “… If there’s more story to be told after seven seasons and if financially it’s still a feasible endeavor, I’m definitely open to doing more.”

Sutter’s new deal also allows him to develop other shows for either cable or broadcast and includes a script deal at FX.
