Victoria Beckham might have attended the premiere of the Spice Girls musical “Viva Forever” back in December, but she did so with her family, not her fellow bandmates. That’s a decision that Melanie Chisholm, better known as Sporty Spice to Spice Girls fans, admits she, Geri Halliwell, Emma Bunton and Melanie Brown were “disappointed” by at the time.
“We were disappointed that Victoria didn’t arrive with us on the red carpet at the premiere, I’m not going to lie. For her that evening was about her family, and that’s what she wanted to do,” Chisholm tells The Daily Mail.
She continues, “But we’re all grown-ups and we’ve been through so much. If somebody wants to do something a certain way, then we are not going to kick up a fuss about it. The rules of the Spice Girls are that we do really respect each other, and that’s all part of it. That’s what she wanted to do, so that’s what she did.'”
With that being said, Chisholm admits that she respects everything Beckham has accomplished since she first was a Spice Girl. She married a British soccer superstar, is the mother of four kids and also finds the time to be a fashion designer, all the while being a celebrity icon.
“Brand Beckham is huge and they’ve worked so hard at building that huge empire. I really feel for Victoria actually, because you can see whenever we meet up, she walks into a room and all eyes are on her. That’s a huge pressure,” Chisholm says. “When you see David in his pants quite a lot, you think, ‘That’s my friend’s husband, and I really don’t want to see him in his pants.”
