Comedian David Spade stopped by “Chelsea Lately” on Tuesday (Jan. 21), where he regaled host Chelsea Handler and the audience with a hilarious story of how he got kind of peer-pressured into donating $125,000 at a Haiti fundraiser.

We won’t do the story justice, so just watch the video above. The best part is how Spade brought $30,000 to the auction, thinking he was “baller material” and then kept feeling the heat to bid up some Paul McCartney tickets until he bought them for quadruple what he meant to buy them for. But hey, it’s for a good cause.

That story and another about how girls are like gerbils when you get bottle service in Las Vegas eat up Spade’s entire interview, so he doesn’t end up promoting “Spoils of Babylon,” on which he currently appears, so we’ll do it for him:

“Spoils of Babylon,” starring Kristen Wiig, Will Ferrell and Toby Maguire, airs Thursday nights at 10 p.m. ET/PT on IFC.
