A new trailer for the much anticipated “Star Trek Into Darkness,” the sequel to 2009’s reboot of the popular “Star Trek” franchise, debuted during the first half of the Super Bowl. The sneak peak shows a stare down and brief conversation about the end of the world between Chris Pine’s Captain Kirk, and the film’s villain, played by Benedict Cumberbatch. Spliced in are shots of all kinds of destruction, including what looks to be a disabled Enterprise falling to Earth.

“Star Trek Into Darkness” will land in theaters on May 17. After that, director J.J. Abrams begins preparations on his next sci-fi epic, “Star Wars: Episode VII.”

TV words to live by: "I'm a firm believer that sometimes it's right to do the wrong thing."
