stephen colbert emmy win 2014 late show Emmys 2014: Stephen Colbert is 'still really enjoying watching' David LettermanStephen Colbert is taking over “The Late Show” in 2015, but the comedian, who just won another Emmy for “The Colbert Report,” says he’s in no rush for David Letterman to pass him the late night baton.

“We’ve still got four months of our show to do now, which takes 100 percent of my brain to get done,” Colbert tells reporters backstage at the 2014 Primetime Emmy Awards after his big win. “I’m still really enjoying watching Dave right now.”

The ever-gracious Colbert also took time to praise his “Daily Show” predecessor Jon Stewart — “nothing will ever solidify my superiority over Jon Stewart,” he says when a reporter tries to incite some friendly ribbing; “there’s no greater fan of Jon Stewart than yours truly” — before giving much of the credit for his second consecutive Emmy win to his talented staff.

“It’s really gratifying that everybody on my team and everybody on the show gets to share in the success of it,” Colbert says. “Everybody works so hard and we do 160 of these a year and we really don’t have that much of a chance to know whether people like it. It’s just really nice recognition of all the hard work of everybody on staff. I get the applause and the laughter in front of the camera every night, but this is for everybody on the show. That’s the best part.”
