suge knight Suge Knight documentary in the works for Showtime

Suge Knight, the founder of Death Row records and the man who allegedly held Vanilla Ice by his ankles out of a 30 story window, will be the subject of a feature-length documentary on Showtime.

Suge Knight (a.k.a Marion Knight Jr.) was one of the key figures in the 90s hip-hop explosion that featured the West Coast/East Coast rivalry. Knight was the kingpin behind Death Row Records and was a leader of the West Coast movement which included Snoop Dogg and 2Pac; Knight was driving the car in which 2Pac was fatally shot in 1996. Knight is no stranger to controversy or legal trouble; he was respected (or feared, depending on your position) for his imposing size and his equally as imposing behavior.

Knight has landed in legal hot water numerous times; he was convicted of a parole violation in 1996 which sent him to prison from 1997 to 2001. Additionally, Knight has been arrested on drug charges and aggravated assault charges.

The documentary will be directed by Antoine Fuqua (“Training Day“) and will feature extensive contributions from Knight himself. Knight will provide exclusive interviews as well as produce the film’s soundtrack. So essentially, this is Knight on Knight. Let’s hope no one gets hurt.
