Julia Landauer was the last person to be voted off “Survivor: Caramoan” before the merge. She tells Zap2it that she thinks the Gota Favorites are in the best position — and that Phillip is just as crazy as he comes across on TV.
Are you glad you did ‘Survivor’? Was it everything you were expecting?
“I’m so glad I did ‘Survivor.’ I feel quite blessed to be able to put myself in that little fraternity that so few people get to experience. It was a little more taxing mentally than it was physically, which I wasn’t expecting. I did not go in thinking I would have as much bad luck as me or Matt had … wasn’t expecting that.”
Did you feel like it was a bit unfair to pit a tribe of newbies against a tribe of former players?
“Yeah, I definitely thought the Fans vs Favorites was unfair. I watched the last Fans vs. Favorites season and the fans just got obliterated. Once I realized it was Fans vs. Favorites again, I was a little disappointed. We were so close in so many of the challenges, never having done anything like this before. If we had been against a tribe of fans, I think we would’ve dominated. But on the other hand, I got to play Survivor and that’s amazing.”
Was Phillip really as crazy as he comes across on TV?
“Yes. Phillip is certifiable, in my opinion. It was really strange — I’ve dealt with a lot of characters, but he’s just so much talk. Then in the reward challenge, he was taking about how strong he is, but he said he wasn’t going to go fast because the girls will tire, but it was him who got tired. Everybody was frustrated with him, but nobody was doing anything about it. I think it could’ve been a really interesting game if we decided to blindside Phillip.”
We’ve seen in the previews that the merge is next week — when you were voted out, who did you think stood the best chance to go all the way to the end?
“You know, I think the Favorites on the Gota tribe are actually in some of the best positions. They have had a lot of immunity, they’re winning a lot. There’s a lot of frustration in Bikal, even for the Favorites. And the Fans are being destroyed. So it looks like it’s a Favorites’ game right now. The Gota Favorites look like they’re in a pretty good position, I would love to be one of them right now.”
“Survivor” airs Wednesday nights at 8 p.m. ET/PT on CBS.
