jeff probst survivor caramoan 'Survivor's' Jeff Probst on Brandon Hantz's 'historic' meltdown, Shamar's woes“Survivor: Caramoan” lost two castaways Wednesday night (March 6) when Shamar Thomas was the first medical evacuation of the season, having scratched his eye when a piece of sand got inside.

Host Jeff Probst tells EW that it did pop into his head that perhaps Shamar was using it as an excuse to leave, especially considering Probst has already been to see Shamar at Gota’s camp.

“It went through my head [that it was an excuse] because I had already visited Shamar a few days earlier (which we didn’t air) and he really seemed to want to go home, but his tribe talked him into staying,” says Probst.

“So when I got the call that he needed to see medical I was already speculating about the situation. But when I arrived it was clear his eye was injured, and when it comes to vision, you can’t take any risks. The call from the doctors to pull him from the game was an easy one to make. Whether he was secretly relieved, only he truly knows,” Probst continues.

After last night’s episode, the previews for next week make it look as though Brandon Hantz has a bit of a meltdown at Bikal’s camp. Probst says it’s pretty epic.

“Hang on, a storm is coming. Don’t DVR. People will be talking. In a word — historic,” says Probst.

We cannot wait.
