jimmy johnson survivor 'Survivor's' Jimmy Johnson: Pep talk preview, NFL colleagues weigh in“Survivor: Nicaragua” welcomes a famous face in former Super Bowl champ head coach Jimmy Johnson. He tells Zap2it about his experience roughing it, he gives his tribe a pep talk and his NFL colleagues weigh in on his decision to be on the CBS reality show.

“It was grueling. It was so much more difficult than I ever imagined,” says Johnson. “I love the show, I’m obsessed with the show, I’ve never missed a second. But it’s a lot more difficult out there in the wild than it is sitting on your couch.”

The hook this season on “Survivor” is that the tribes are being split into old and young — 40+ and under 30. One might assume the challenges would favor the young ‘uns, but Johnson says the challenges weren’t the hardest part of the game.

“The challenges weren’t as difficult as I thought they were going to be. The hardest part was the no sleep,” Johnson tells us.

Along with the lack of sleep, the lack of basic comforts from home shined a new light on conditions around the world for Johnson.

“I came out of it appreciating what I have and it brought to light what a lot of people in the world don’t have,” says Johnson. “Sleeping on the ground, having no food, boiling our water. Realizing what a lot of people in the world have to do. It gives me such an appreciation for what a soft bed feels like and having a plate of food on the table. Being able to actually have the comforts we have here at home.”
