johnny knoxville tony shalhoub ninja turtles gi 'Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles': Johnny Knoxville and Tony Shalhoub cast in major roles

The “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles” movie is adding a bit of star power with two roles that have been recast.

“Jackass” star Johnny Knoxville is joining the movie to voice Leonardo, the leader of the turtles. The voice was originally played by Pete Ploszek, the actor who also donned the motion capture suit for the role.

Likewise, Danny Woodburn has been replaced as Splinter by former “Monk” star Tony Shalhoub. Deadline broke the news with a report that the option to swap out voices of the turtles was always a possibility.
While the first trailer for the movie has been released, and in fact includes a shot of Leonardo, neither of the character’s voices have been heard yet. In fact, the only turtle to speak so far is Michaelangelo. “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles” is in theaters Aug. 8.
