After a brief, leaked appearance online Tuesday, the trailer for “The Amazing Spider-Man” returned to the web Wednesday (July 20), and it will probably stick around: The video up above is straight from the Sony Pictures site.
And also? It’s really good.
We were skeptical of the decision to reboot the Spidey franchise only 10 years after the first “Spider-Man” movie was released, but after seeing what’s on screen in the trailer, we’re starting to come around. Andrew Garfield (“The Social Network”) is a fine choice as Peter Parker, and we kind of like the decision to have Spidey go back to using man-made web shooters, in keeping with the character’s Marvel Comics origins.
The first-person shots of Spider-Man traversing the rooftops of New York look great as well — it’s something we didn’t really see in the previous “Spider-Man” movies, and it works.
“The Amazing Spider-Man” is scheduled to hit theaters on July 3, 2012. What do you think of the trailer? Are you on board with the reset?
