Even though Sebastian cheated on Carrie with her best friend in the Season 1 finale, fans of the “Sex and the City” prequel series were still holding out hope that the two would find some way to get back together. But two recent pieces of casting news are making it pretty obvious that this won’t be the case.
First, we already know that Molly Sims is set to woo Sebastian as a cougar named Vicky … and we know he loves the older ladies (he was expelled from his previous school because he slept with one of his teachers). As if that wasn’t already enough to deter Carrie from taking Sebastian back, Season 2 just cast relative newcomer Chris Wood as a big love interest for Carrie, TVLine reports.
Now before you get too excited, that “big” has a lowercase “b” — Wood isn’t playing Chris Noth‘s “SATC” iconic character. Wood will play Adam Weaver, a “wunderkind playwright” who will develop a professional relationship with Carrie that quickly turns very personal.
“Their romance will have a huge impact on Carrie and her ‘coming of age’ story,” executive producer Amy B. Harris says, “and will have profound repercussions for her and Sebastian.”
Carrie’s main story arc for Season 2 will see the future writer coming into her own after her first summer living in Manhattan — and her self-discovery will be helped along by her new friendship with a young Samantha Jones (played by Kim-Cattrall-lookalike Lindsey Gort).
“The Carrie Diaries” Season 2 premieres on Friday, Oct. 25 at 8 p.m. ET on The CW.
