stephen colbert ferguson screencap 'The Colbert Report': Stephen Colbert has 'frank' conversation about Ferguson and race

“The Colbert Report” host Stephen Colbert joins Jon Stewart in commenting on the public conversation about the shooting of Michael Brown in Ferguson, Mo. and the subsequent rioting. While Colbert was much less scathing, and kept his ironic commentary focused on the conversation as a whole rather than a specific news source, he made some poignant points.
Colbert draws a comparison to the Michael Brown case and that of Cliven Bundy — the Nevada rancher who had a stand-off with Marines over unpaid grazing fees. “By the way black people, why can’t you be more like these guys?” Colbert questions. “They were armed and dared the cops to shoot them and nothing happened. Just figure out whatever was different about them and you’ll be fine.”

“The Colbert Report” airs weekdays at 11:30 p.m. ET/PT on Comedy Central.
