Five new dramas are joining the CW for the 2012-13 season, though only three are starting right away in the fall. Two of them are being held for midseason. The intriguing group of shows include new medical drama ‘Emily Owens, M.D.,’ starring Meryl Streep‘s daughter Mamie Gummer; a re-imagining of “Beauty and the Beast” starring “Smallville” alum Kristin Kreuk; and “Arrow,” a new superhero drama about the Green Arrow from the Superman universe.
The biggest scheduling changes are that “Supernatural” and “America’s Next Top Model” have swapped nights – “Supernatural” is being paired with “Arrow” on Wednesdays and “ANTM” (sans Jay, Miss J and Nigel!) will be the lead-in to “Nikita” on Fridays.
The midseason dramas include “Cult,” which spins the tale of a weird TV show and its rabid fans and stars CW alum Alona Tal; and “The Carrie Diaries,” the prequel to “Sex and the City” starring AnnaSophia Robb as a young Carrie Bradshaw.
