Apparently those tweets Sylvester Stallone posted about Bruce Willis being “GREEDY AND LAZY” weren’t some kind of weird joke. Stallone is livid with Willis over their “The Expendables 3” contract negotiations, specifically because the “Die Hard” star wanted $1 million a day to work.
A source tells The Hollywood Reporter that Willis was offered $3 million for a four-day consecutive shoot in Bulgaria. He demanded $4 million and said he’d drop out of the sequel if he didn’t receive it.
“A million dollars a day. Stallone and everybody else involved said no,” the insider says, adding that Stallone then reached out to Harrison Ford. “I think [Willis] was pretty surprised he was replaced in 72 hours by Harrison Ford — a better actor, a much nicer person and a more interesting direction for the film.”
Willis played the role of “Church” in both “The Expendables” and “The Expendables 2,” and with an exit like this he’ll probably get written out of “The Expendables 3” in a ruthless way. “The Expendables 3” will feature some new faces like Nicolas Cage, Milla Jovovich, Mel Gibson, Wesley Snipes, Steven Seagal and Jackie Chan, as well as returning favorites Stallone, Jason Statham, Dolph Lundgren and Arnold Schwarzenegger. The flick is due out on Aug. 15, 2014.
