At 42, the supermodel, in a body-skimming Alexander McQueen black jumpsuit, gingerly rests an injured leg on a chair and settles back in a Pasadena hotel room to talk about her latest project, “The Face.”
Campbell makes her TV debut as an executive producer and a mentor on the competitive reality series premiering Tuesday, Feb. 12, on Oxygen. In a half-hour interview, Campbell is nothing but charming, displaying none of the diva behavior that has landed her in courtrooms.
Rather, she talks about wanting to impart her 26 years of modeling expertise to the young women she calls “my girls.” The show also features two other models, Karolina Kurkova and Coco Rocha, who coach participants. Photographer Nigel Barker hosts.
In the pilot, the hopefuls, winnowed from 24 to 12, are divided among the three models and given their first challenge, to accessorize an outfit and see who wears it best.
At the end of seven episodes, one is chosen to be the face of Ulta Beauty, representing the cosmetics company in print, on-air and at events.

She has to be able to talk, interact, have conversations.”
In other words, the woman will not just be a face. Though naturally the face is pretty important considering this is a contest to model. Campbell says she does not have a specific look in mind.
“They have to have something you see,” she says. “The drive, they have to give 110 percent.”
After spending her life in front of the camera, Campbell offers practical tips such as not wearing eyeliner on the lower inside lid and dabbing the corners of the eyes with gold shadow to brighten them.
Her best advice for the contestants, though, is applicable to any job: “I really think it is about liking what you do. Giving your all. I still love what I do.”
