A new featurette has been released for the upcoming “The Fifth Estate,” which tells the story of the rise of Wikileaks and the men behind it, Julian Assange (Benedict Cumberbatch) and Daniel Domscheit-Berg (Daniel Bruhl). In the video, the cast and crew discuss the importance of the story and the website, itself.
Bill Condon, the movie’s director, is very quick to note that this film isn’t a documentary, but that they’re trying “to show off sides of a complicated issue in the form of a journalistic thriller.” Still, that doesn’t mean it can’t shed light on important topics. “It’s a story about the rise of this idea that information could be transformed by being published in its raw form,” Cumberbatch says.
“The Fifth Estate” also stars Anthony Mackie, Stanley Tucci and Laura Linney. It’s in theaters October 2.
