hobbittrailer 'The Hobbit': New production video shows a permanent HobbitonHave you been dreaming of heading off to Matamata, New Zealand to visit the set of “The Lord of the Rings?” Are you dying to visit Hobbiton? While there are tours of the location, the structures were never permanent. Well, according to the newest production video from the set of “The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey,” that has all changed.

The fifth video to be released from the set not only shows some of the most amazingly beautiful vistas we’ve ever seen, it brings us back to the Hobbiton set. Director Peter Jackson explains that this time, they’ve built everything out of long lasting materials so that the Hobbit holes and the entire town can stand the test of time.

In addition to a tour through the set, we get to see Elijah Wood, who plays Frodo take a trip down memory lane. He was 19 when he first started production on “The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring.” Now he’s 30 and back on the set. Check out the video below and try not to tear up when Frodo hugs Gandalf (Ian McKellen). Then watch the trailer. Next year can’t get here soon enough.

“The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey” premieres on December 14th, 2012.
