“The Simpsons” is covering all of its holiday bases with the next couch gag, which will air before Sunday’s (Dec. 15) episode, “White Christmas Blues.” The entire opening has been redone with a Christmas theme, though there are shout outs to pretty much every December holiday on the calendar, including Festivus.
There’s also a nice tribute to those in the “Simpsons” family who died in 2013, star Marcia Wallace (Mrs. Krabappel) and writer Don Payne. They both appear as angels, among the citizens of Springfield. It’s the second tribute to Wallace, after Bart wrote a single “We’ll really miss you, Mrs. K.” on the chalkboard during the Nov. 3 episode.
“The Simpsons airs Sundays at 8 p.m. ET on FOX.

Chris E. Hayner is equal parts nerd, crazy person and coffee. He watches too much TV, knows more about pro wrestling than you do and remembers every single show from the TGIF lineup. You may have seen him as a pro-shark protester in "Sharknado 3." His eventual memoir will be called "You're Wrong, Here's Why..." TV words to live by: "I'm a firm believer that sometimes it's right to do the wrong thing."
