The people over at “The Simpsons” sure do work fast when the time calls for it. After David Letterman announced his impending retirement from the “Late Show” on Thursday (April 3), the show’s animators got to work creating an extra special couch gag.
In the clip, the Simpson family runs around New York City and Homer headbutts his way through security. It’s all an effort to get to their couch, conveniently located on the “Late Show” stage.
Of course, once Letterman realizes what all of the buildup is for, he’s less than impressed. Luckily, Paul Schaffer is there to entertain him.

Chris E. Hayner is equal parts nerd, crazy person and coffee. He watches too much TV, knows more about pro wrestling than you do and remembers every single show from the TGIF lineup. You may have seen him as a pro-shark protester in "Sharknado 3." His eventual memoir will be called "You're Wrong, Here's Why..." TV words to live by: "I'm a firm believer that sometimes it's right to do the wrong thing."
