rihanna chris brown assault getty 500 Time to put the Rihanna, Chris Brown assault behind us? They think so

When pictures surfaced of the bruised and beaten pop singer, Rihanna, back in Feb. 2009, fans were justifiably outraged to hear it was at the hands of then boyfriend, singer Chris Brown.
Now with a year and a new album behind her and a new boyfriend, baseballer Matt Kemp, Rihanna thinks it’s time to stop talking about the incident and, surprise, Brown agrees.
According to MTV, Rihanna responded to a fan’s tweet asking her why she continues to speak about the 2009 assault in interviews and suggesting that she stop.
“AGREED! People won’t stop asking about it,” she tweets. “It’s f***ing annoying! Nobody wants to relive that, but some people can’t respect that!”

She followed up with, “I get it. They wanna raise awareness to young girls! But it ends up just making me look bitter, pitiful, spiteful and angry!”
Of course, Chris Brown (who’s finally making a slow climb out of the pop dog house) would love for the incident to go away (or we think that’s what he’s saying).

He tweeted to his fans (AKA Team Breezy) and Rihanna’s fans (AKA Rihanna Navy) a message: “Y’all starting to sound extremely childish! Team Breezy and Rihanna Navy. It’s pointless. Love Team breezy & Thank you Rihanna Navy for supporting ya girl.”
Do you think it’s “pointless” to talk about the assault at this point?
