tina fey instyle Tina Fey in InStyle: Defending Gwyneth Paltrow, bossed by daughter AliceTina Fey and Gwyneth Paltrow, comrades in working-mom-celebrity arms? Apparently so.

Fey is the cover subject for the April issue of InStyle, and in the accompanying story she expresses sympathy for Paltrow: “I remember reading some interview where Gwyneth Paltrow said something like, ‘I missed my kids on the set one day and I was crying,'” she tells the magazine. “And I thought, ‘Yeah, I’ve totally done that.’ But on the website where I read it there were these furious comments. ‘But you’re a movie star!’ Yes, it’s much worse for a mom serving in Afghanistan. Of course. But there’s just no forgiveness.”

Fey is promoting her memoir “Bossypants,” which hits bookstores on April 5. And while she’s in charge on the “30 Rock” set, she too has someone to answer to: her 5-year-old daughter Alice.

“Kids are definitely the boss of you,” she says. “Anyone who will barge into the room while you are on the commode is the boss of you. And when you explain to them that you’re on the commode and that they should leave but they don’t? That’s a high-level boss.”

Fey brings Alice to the set sometimes, and the child appears to have at least one aspect of comedy already down cold, her mom says: “She’s also figured out that it’s funny to show people your butt.”
