men of a certain age canceled TNT cancels 'Men of a Certain Age' after two seasons“Men of a Certain Age” won’t be getting any older at TNT.

The cable channel announced Friday (July 15) that it’s canceling the series, which has earned two Emmy nominations for Andre Braugher but didn’t attract a big enough audience to keep it on the air.

“TNT has been proud to be a part of ‘Men of a Certain Age’ for two seasons,” TNT says in a statement. “While the show has featured great storytelling and impeccable performances, the audience simply hasn’t built to the point where we can continue the series. This was an extremely difficult decision for us. We wish [co-creator/star] Ray Romano, [co-creator] Mike Royce and the terrific cast and crew of ‘Men of a Certain Age’ the very best and look forward to exploring new programming possibilities in the future.”

“Men of a Certain Age’s” season finale on July 6 averaged 1.8 million viewers, which was a bit of an improvement over prior episodes but was still well below the numbers for TNT’s other original series. Braugher picked up his second straight Emmy nomination for his role as Owen on Thursday, but that and a set of pleas from prominent critics in the past week weren’t enough to keep the show alive.
